The silicon-oxygen binding underlying the silicones is so stable that it cannot be destroyed by UV light, weather or other influences.

This means that silicone is not subject to any ageing. Here it is of particular importance that this is achieved without addition of any ageing inhibitors as they are required for other plastics and rubbers, and whose physiological neutrality is questionable.
